The Teach Act and Distance Ed

The November/December journal Change includes the article “Copyright and Distance Education: Making Sense of the Teach Act” by copyright law expert Kenneth D. Crews of the Copyright Management Center at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis. According to the Chronicle of Higher Education, where I found information about this article since I couldn’t find it online, Crews explores reasons why there’s going to be more emphasis on copyright law in distance education in the future. The Technology, Education, and Copyright Harmonization (Teach) Act requires institutions instead of instructors to enforce copyright law and guard against its violation. In the past, institutions have placed that burden on instructors.

The Copyright Management Center has some additional information on the Teach Act.
