Info on Campus Crimes
Security on Campus, Inc.’s Web site was written up in today’s Internet Scout Report. It contains a lot of information about the Jeanne Clery Act (the act that legislates institutions of higher education to report information about crime), other acts related to reporting crime at colleges and universities, and a search engine linking to the Department of Education?s Office of Postsecondary Education Campus Security Statistics database of campus crime statistics. The organization was founded and is run by Jeanne Clery’s family. Jeanne was murdered on campus in 1986.
Many campus police departments, like the Harvard University Police Department, make their campus crime statistics available on their Web sites.
