Heresy, Forbidden Thoughts, and Moral Fashion
I’m not sure why I’m pointing to this piece on Je’s blog. Perhaps it’s because many librarians seem to have been the unpopular people in high school and college. Perhaps it has something to do with the part of our profession that supports, collects, saves, and encourages unpopular viewpoints. Maybe it’s because at some time in our lives, we all hold an unfashionable opinion and have to decide whether to share it or hold on to it. Maybe it’s because it’s the first philosophy I’ve read in a while that made me think “Oh, yeah.”
No, it’s not another “Let’s worship Je’” week. He made us disban the fan club, so there’s no point in that. But I have to admire anyone who’s interested enough in my job to want to come by my office to learn more about it.
