Maybe It’s a Librarian Thing …
v does something I’ve contemplated doing many times: she responded to something in her referer log to point the person in the correct direction.
It’s difficult for me not to respond sometimes, especially when I think I know the answer or know what someone might be looking for and I know it isn’t on my blog, but I can point to it. It’s a just a thing I have about connecting people to the right information. Do I do that because of my profession or did I become a librarian because I like to do that? Of course, most of the time, those inquiries have nothing to do with topics related to my blog. It’s just the quirks and randomness of searching words on the Web that lands someone here most of the time (except for my 9 faithful readers (thank you)). Sometimes, I want to tell the person how to restructure the search to get better results (try using quotes). (But then, my hit count would plummet.) And sometimes it’s difficult to tell whether a referer is really a genuine referral or whether it is spam.
