ResourceShelf Weekly E-mail in RSS
(By the time you look at my aggregator, it might be gone. Check back next Thursday.)
As I was scrolling through my aggregator tonight, I noticed something that looked strangely familiar: the weekly ResourceShelf e-mail reminder! Yes! Another great use of RSS to distribute information.
The e-mail reminder contains a sample of the excellent things Gary Price has posted on his site during the past week or so.
For me, it’s much more practical to get the reminder in a feed than e-mail because there are links in the RSS feed to the items, but there are no links in the e-mail I receive. Now, when I see something I want to read, I can follow a link instead of going to the ResourceShelf and hunting for the post manually. I hope this is a new way of distributing the reminder and not just a fluke.
Addendum 2/20: Steven, what I had in my aggregator is quite different from what’s there today. It started with text similar to “This is the weekly e-mail reminder from the ResourceShelf” and had all the links to subscribe and unsubscribe to the e-mail newsletter. And yes, even though it was part of an RSS feed, it did refer to itself as “e-mail.” Like I said above, by the time anyone looks, it will have rolled off into oblivion. Maybe next Thursday it will magically appear again.
Addendum 2/23: Gary confirmed via e-mail over the weekend that he is experimenting with the feed and is currently sending the full-text as each entry is published.
