Unsolicited E-mail from BloggerCon Attendee
Another blogger reported getting the same unsolicited e-mail I received the other day from some guy trying to promote his blawg among BloggerCon attendees:
“Some of you are getting this occasional, periodic email of [the blawg's name] for the first time.
That’s because you, too, signed up for BloggerCon, and I wanted to introduce myself before the conference started. You’ll appreciate the work it took to find your email address. I’ve seen and read your blog. Nice work.”
Car Talk guys saying “Bo-o-o-gus” here>
Had he even glanced at this blog, he’d know that I have no interest in his. I certainly don’t appreciate the e-mail, especially since it contained large graphics and html formatting. It’s one thing to send conference registrants an introductory, text-based e-mail with a blog address. It’s another thing to add them to a blog’s flashy e-mail newsletter without their prior consent. Unlike many spammers, though, he was kind enough to put an unsubscribe link at the bottom. I hope everyone he sent it to unsubscribed that day.
I’m trying really hard to restrain myself from spamming him with things from my blog he won’t appreciate.
(A blawg is a blog dealing with legal issues or the law.)
