Great Quote
Dave Winer just said he heard about this quote at a librarian’s conference about librarians:
“We’re a bunch of Lisas in a world full of Barts.”
For those who are clueless, that’s an analogy based on the American cartoon The Simpsons. Lisa is an incredibly intelligent, witty little girl. Bart is her older brother who seems to be a wild little boy who gets into all sorts of mischief and doesn’t appreciate learning and school.

Did Dave really say that?
Dave saw the following quote on Jenny’s site (http://www.theshiftedlibrarian.com/2004/03/13.html#a5340): “We’re in a room full of Lisa Simpsons, but the world is full of Barts.” Jenny calls it an approximate quote, but as I was in the room at the Computers in Libraries conference with her, I can verify its relative accuracy. The same day, Dave reposts the quote on his site – http://archive.scripting.com/2004/03/13#When:5:32:04PM
And less than a week later, he’s distorted the quote and claimed he heard it first-hand at the conference? That seems like a stretch, even for Dave.
Just wondering…
