Spring Issue of News Library News (.pdf)
The Spring 2004 News Library News, the newsletter for the Special Libraries Association News Division, is now available on the News Division Web site. It includes features on Nashville, the division’s award winners (Liz Donovan and Gary Price, who sometimes read this blog, and John Cronin, who helped me get my job), and a profile of The Tennessean in preparation for the 2004 Special Libraries Association Annual Conference. The essay Vormelker-Thomas Student Award recipient Amy Disch submitted with her application, about recruiting news librarians, is also in this issue. Amy, who is one of this blog’s readers, mentions one of my blog posts in her essay. (Her article deserves its own blog post.) Leigh Montgomery reports on the Poynter Seminar about the future of news libraries. The People column by the fab Kathryn Pease mentions the Librarianesque Session at BloggerCon and says blogger and blog reader Eli Edwards got the internship at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution this summer. (Way to go, Eli!)

Thanks for yet another mention Jessica. I’m very flattered by the comments you made regarding my essay. Coming from you, considering your stature within the division and the profession and the wonderful things I’ve heard about you from Ron, means a lot to me. Thank you so very much. I’m so looking forward to meeting you in Nashville. (Hard to believe it’s only three weeks away!)

“stature in the division” ha ha ha Amy, you make me laugh. I’m working on the real post about your essay now. Come back in about thirty minutes …
Wow! Three weeks til SLA … hard to believe …

Thanks for the props. Unfortunately, I won’t be at SLA this year, in part due to the internship. I will be attending my first IRE, though.
And, congratulations to Amy! Great essay!

Thanks Eli, I really appreciate your thoughts. Congratulations to you as well on your internship. I’m just sorry that we won’t be seeing each other at the conference.

I am “fab”, aren’t I? lol! Actually, just a humble NLN servant… Congrats to Amy and Eli. Eli, I’m an AJC alum-you’ll love it!
