What Young Librarians Do in the Stacks

(Warning: Do not follow the above link if you don’t like anything related to pornography or don’t have a sense of humor about sexy librarians or librarians having sex.)

It seems like I was talking with someone recently about libraries and how easy it is to find a quiet, out of the way place in some of them. We were talking about it the context of attacks that happen in libraries and how dirty and dusty books can get in sections that aren’t used frequently, actually, but, well, other things sometimes happen in those quiet stacks …

Thanks for the, uh, suggestion, BS.

Always happy to be, uh, suggestive.

Does anyone remember a poster (could it possibly be from ALA?) that said, “Love Among the Stacks”? It featured a “bodice ripper” image of a stereotypical bespectacled librarian in the embrace of a hunky male. I swear I am not making this up. It would have been from the early 90s, I reckon.

That poster certainly wasn’t on the wall of my library school. We mostly had those READ posters, including ones of Oprah Winfrey and Denzel Washington from the mid-1980s.
