Photographed for Book to Counter Librarian Stereotype

I stared at a woman’s name tag and her bag with www.iamalibrarian.com on it in big letters for a few moments before I realized they seemed familiar because I had blogged about the Web site a few months ago. Cynthia Wilson is working on a book of photographs of librarians to show the variety of people in the profession. I let her photograph me, even though I really hate having my picture taken. I took off the beanie for the photographs. She didn’t just take my photo straight, like I thought she would. She took it from several angles. It was kinda weird, but fun and good. And I was all excited to meet someone whose work I had blogged about. I tried to get some other librarians to volunteer for photographs, too, but no one was really interested. There were plenty of stereotype breakers in the room, too.
