Info Today Blog Has Lots of SLA Annual Conference Stuff
I skimmed the Information Today blog and noticed lots of good posts about the Special Libraries Association Annual Conference. For some strange reason, I can’t find any permalinks on the specific posts I want to highlight. The best I can do is find an archives link that gets a little closer. I’m sad that I wasn’t able to go to more of the conference, but it’s great that people are out there writing about it and sharing things with those of us who aren’t in Nashville.
Among the posts for Monday, June 9, is a nice photo of Gary Price and Dana Gordon holding the Agnes Henebry Roll of Honor Award the News Division gave Gary. Dana was one of five ladies who helped present the award to Gary in one of the better award presentations I’ve seen at a banquet. I plan to write more about the banquet later.
Nancy Garman reported that only 3839 people attended the conference this year. That number seems lower than previous years–I think there were about 5,000 attendees in Los Angeles–but I’m not motivated enough to try to track down data from earlier years.
Jane Dysart, whom I got to talk to very, very briefly, wrote about several News Division sessions and the auction in one post. I donated an autographed librarian action figure and couldn’t stay to see if it sold. Can anyone tell me how much it went for? (If it’s low or was a leftover for Wednesday night, it’s okay. I just want to know.)
