Organizing Professional Development Programs on Blogs
Someone approached me about helping a local professional association do a program on blogs. I explained to him that there hasn’t been enough interest in the past for this particular association to have its own program, which is why it hasn’t done one.
I talked to the program planners for the Special Libraries Association News Division about doing a panel or a continuing education course on blogging next year. I wore a tag at the conference last week advertising this blog. I had at least twenty people ask me various things about blogging from “What’s a weblog?” to “Is the marketing you do for your blog successful?” Based on trends in the industry and the interest people showed when asking me about blogging, it seems like there’d be an audience large enough to fill a room.
If you belong to a professional association and you think they should do a program on blogs or anything else, talk to the program organizers. Many times, they don’t get enough feedback from association members to know what kinds of programs are of interest.
