IBM Tries to Block Journal Article
IBM is interfering with the publication of a scholarly article about a higher incidence of cancer among some of their employees. Now the authors of other articles scheduled to be published in the particular issue of Clinics in Occupational and Evnironmental Medicine are withholding their articles to protest Elsevier’s decision not to publish the article.
Part of IBM’s action stems from the question of whether the authors have the right to publish their analysis since the authors obtained the data through a civil suit against IBM.
Elsevier claims their unwillingness to publish the article is because it is not suitable for that journal.
The Chronicle of Higher Education also reports the boycott.
