Books for Soldiers
A local newspaper highlighted this organization’s efforts to encourage donations of books, DVDs, and other materials to members of the United States military stationed overseas. This Web site gives the names and addresses of service men and women requesting items as well as providing a place for people to add their own names and addresses or the names and addresses of others serving overseas. It also has guidelines for the packages and what other kinds of items members of the military might need or want. They also take monetary donations.

My mom sent me paperbacks and a couple of magazines (Cosmo and InStyle) when I was on deployment. It was the best thing she could have sent. The women all shared them around until they were worn out! Even if they’re not new, they’ll be really appreciated. Remember — not all soldiers or sailors are men. Feel free to donate things women like, too!
