A Wannabe Librarian Writes about Rejection Letters
and all the things she could do with the many she’s received.
I recently heard a colleague who’s been on the market for a while mention an e-mail she got thanking her for letting them review her credentials, but informing her the position was no longer available. “Thank you for giving us the opportunity to review your credentials?” I think that sounds so hokie. I wonder if employers spend as much time considering and writing their rejection letters as we spend preparing our application materials.
It’s a tough market out there, especially for news librarians right now. Hopefully as the economy improves, the jobs will return.
