Who Subscribes to your Feed?

This is for that blogger at Oraculi, who recently enabled the Atom feed for his blog. He had to sit through a blog talk where I forgot to mention Share Your OPML (SYO), so I’m filling in that blank here.

One of the gripes many bloggers and others who offer feeds for their content have is that it’s difficult to tell who subscribes to your feed. Using SYO, you can get a rough idea of who some of your subscribers are. Some of SYO’s features are restricted to members, so it might be to your benefit to join the site.

If you follow the link on the sidebar to Interesting Readouts, then select Who Subscribes?, you can enter the URL of a feed in the box and see a list of people who subscribe to that feed who have opted to share their subscription lists via this service. So far, I’m the only one for Oraculi. You can also see that I subscribe to 56 other feeds. If you click on my name, you can see what other things I subscribe to. SYO can be useful for resource discovery because you can find out what other people with similar interests read.

Of course, it all depends on people uploading their subscription lists to the service and sharing it with others.
