Eeeks! There’s a photo next to my feed in Feedster and it isn’t me.
I swear that’s not my photo. I don’t look like that. I didn’t try to upload a photo of me and I don’t plan to, either.
Is Scott teasing me or is this a legitimate mistake?
I suppose it’s someone’s secret fantasy that I have red hair and look that glamorous, but I really don’t.
Addendum 10/6: I suppose this is a gentle kick in the shins that I should claim this feed. It looks like bloggers get a variety of tools and features once they claim their feed, hopefully including the ability to remove someone else’s photograph from it. I can already view a few details about it, including that it was last updated on December 31, 1969 and has 15 subscribers. And that annoying photograph is still there.
Addendum 10/8: The photo just appeared the other day, though, so something on Feedster’s end must have changed recently. I talked to the person who’s photo it is and she doesn’t know what it’s doing there, either, but she also wants it changed. I’ll work on it maybe next week when I (hopefully) will have better access to the Internet.
Addendum 10/12: There’s a new photo there now.
Addendum 11/25: I thought I put text in here indicating that I think the entire thing is really funny, but it appears that I didn’t. I really was laughing pretty hard about it all.

Apparently, all of the Harvard blogs on Feedster now feature a picture of the Redhead. I searched for my blog and a few others and the same picture appeared. Perhaps, Wendy was the first (or only person) with a BLHE weblog to add a picture, and the programming behind this feature translated it as applying to all of our blogs (since our pages are all directories of BLHE essentially)… Not that I mind being the Redhead …

feedster help that I spoke to about my own issues via IM says try feedster.net to change your claimed feeds. I tried it for mine and it works. my understanding is that it’s a bizarre form of reverse authority control problem.

Hi,
Once the picture is under your control (sorry!), do you like having one in your feed?

Hey the other Scott @ Feedster,
I’m one of those weird people who don’t really want images of themselves all over the net. I wouldn’t put an image of me in Feedster because of my personal preference. But I’m sure plenty of other people want their images with their feeds. It’s a great idea, but just not my thing.
