Description:
Blogs … feeds … RSS … aggregators … . Everybody’s heard about them but what are they and what do you do with them? At this workshop you will learn not only what they are but also how to make them work for you!
Jessica Baumgart writes about issues related to special librarianship, blogging, and feeds on j’s scratchpad. Rowland Institute at Harvard librarian Garrett Eastman blogs for his library’s primary users on the Rowland Institute at Harvard Library Blog. Programmers Shimon Rura and Josh Ain are developing the blog platform Frassle. Kris Liberman has a strong interest in the use of blogs for knowledge management.
Dutch-treat dinner at Fedora’s Tavern follows.
Space is limited to 50 people, which is actually 40 people once the speakers and the program coordinators are accounted for, so if you’re interested, register very soon.
*The program is actually being marketed as “What Every Librarian Needs to Know,” but we aren’t limiting our talk to just what librarians need to know. We’ll address the needs of other information professionals, too.
Addenda 10/18: The announcement for this program is available on the SLA Boston Chapter’s Web site.
Garrett plugs the talk on his blog.
