More Thoughts on Comment Spam
I almost feel like I’m spamming my blog with all these posts on comment spam.
Today was a bad day for comment spam. As of 11:30 pm, the time I am drafting this post, I received 12 comments today. Only one was a real comment. (Thanks, Bob!) While deleting the other comments, I noticed patterns: the same e-mail addresses* on several from today and a few days ago, all were on posts with comments already, and some were on posts that had been hit by comment spam earlier this week. I need to learn more about comment spam and how it works.
*Because I have the comments on the blog e-mailed to me, I see the e-mail addresses. E-mail addresses otherwise shouldn’t be accessible via this blog.
Addendum 10/22: It’s been another bad 24-hours for comment spam. I received an additional 19 bad comments in a span of about twelve hours. I hope the spammers have finished for the day.
