Revealing Confidential Sources
The Associated Press reports potential confidential sources for news stories are changing their minds about revealing information as a number of cases are forcing or trying to make journalists reveal secret sources.
"’The press simply cannot perform its intended role if its sources of information – particularly information about the government – are cut off,’ [New York] Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. wrote Oct. 10 in a statement with company CEO Russell T. Lewis, calling for a federal shield law."
