A Few Wikipedia Items

A profile of Wikipedia in The Guardian covers a lot of background about the project, including recent comparisons to other encyclopedias, vandalism, criticism, and efforts to improve the content.

“Pointing out that Wikipedia is still less than four years old and still improving. And, that he is looking at new techniques to improve the quality. … Wales is willing to do whatever it takes to give his project the authority it needs.”

Steven Cohen has more to say about it, including a report that a librarian quoted in the article wasn’t satisfied with how his half-hour interview turned into a few lines. LIS News also highlights the article.

The ResourceShelf also reports on Wikipedia with an article about some of the editing wars.

sj, of course, writes about Wikipedia, too, including the Guardian article. This post deals with technological matters and Wikitionary.
