All Blogs Have Feeds Now?

Steven Cohen writes on Feedster Hacks that all blogs now come with RSS feeds. Is that true? I thought Blogger only used Atom and that there are still other platforms that didn’t offer any feed options.

From what I’ve heard, Feedster can handle both types of feed, though much of their documentation is still written as if Feedster only handles RSS feeds.

One of the things I like about Feedster Hacks, as highlighted by the post tonight, is that it will show some nifty things we can do with Feedster, which Feedster doesn’t do very well on its own site. For example, it offers a lot of tools for bloggers, like the search, but it doesn’t do a good job of communicating that on their Web site.

I use RSS interchangeably with ATOM. Maybe I shouldn’t do that. I should just call them feeds. Feedster will handle all feeds: RSS, Atom, whatever.

Also, I think that all blogging software now offers some type of feed. It has become the norm now, thank goodness.

    Thanks, Steven!

I’m anal about making the differentiation between the types of feeds. I find it confuses people, especially people new to feeds, to call everything RSS when there are really two kinds of feeds. Since many aggregators don’t treat them as equals, I still try to make the distinction.

I keep hoping for the day when I can get RSS feeds for some of my blogs without going through a third-party solution.
