More Issues with Gmail
The recent flood of comment spam (88 since Tuesday) brought another problem with Gmail to my attention.
Several blogs e-mail new comments to my Gmail account. Not only does the way Gmail threads and groups messages annoy me, but there are inconsistencies with the way it counts new messages, perhaps because of how it groups messages. The number in the stack of e-mails might increase by five or ten, but the new message count only increases by one. Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy?
One of the bloggers at tonight’s meeting pointed out that I can get my Gmail messages via an Atom feed. Very nifty! If I add that to my aggregator, everyone can view my e-mail and comment spam can appear in multiple places on my blog! Obviously, subscribing to any of my e-mail accounts when I use public aggregators is not for me, but some of you might find it useful.
