Is this Site a News Site?
Someone who read what I wrote about the challenges of defining news sources asked me whether I thought the Los Angeles Independent Media Center site should be considered a legitimate news site or not. I won’t tell you what my answer was, at least not yet. What do you think and why?
As an aside, it looks like the site uses wiki software. I really like the “My Ignore List” feature. Users can block themselves from seeing certain people’s posts and comments: “This is an individual ignore list. When you ignore someone, you’re prevented from seeing that user’s comments. Nobody else is deprived of the opportunity to see the posts. Please use this judiciously.”
