Wikipedia Meetup, Sunday, 11/21, 6:30 pm, Harvard Square

A Wikipedia meetup happens tonight (11/21) at 6:30 pm in the entrance to the Coop in Harvard Square.

sj recommends bringing good humour (spelling his) and a pencil. Does that mean those Wikipedians aren’t high tech enough to use computers yet? (Yes, that’s supposed to be a joke.)

Addendum 11/22: It was an informal meeting without much talk about Wikipedia. Some of the relevant points are:

  • getting programmers involved in Wikipedia is a problem

  • intrinsic motivation: giving people recognition for their contributions would encourage more and better work
  • watchlists and keeping track of vandalism is a challenge:
a better way to track changes would make managing watch lists easier

Unbelievably, Shimon had to be goaded into talking about Frassle.

Oh yeah, we ate at Penang. We didn’t stand in the Coop’s doorway the entire time.
