Librarian Characters in Films and Books

Amidst a brief discussion about the Sunday evening film The Librarian: Quest for the Spear on Newslib, Gary Price pointed me to this ResourceShelf post about new domains with librarian in them. http://www.movie-librarians.com goes to a site with information about films with librarians as characters, from some wonderful classics to modern features. http://www.novel-librarians.com looks like it’s still under construction.

It seems like my colleagues weren’t too impressed with the portrayal of librarians in The Library: Quest for the Spear.

Another really good site is “Librarians in the Movies An Annotated Filmography” (http://emp.byui.edu/RAISHM/films/introduction.html)

A friend taped “Quest for the Spear” for me and I’ll probably veg out and watch it this weekend.

I’ll be honest, the plot description didn’t do much for me, but who knows, I may end up enjoying it.

Remember the scene in “It’s a Wonderful Life” where George Bailey finds out that if he had never been born, his wife Mary would have ended up as a meek old maid who is (Horrors!) the librarian at the Bedford Falls Public Library? I laugh my head off every time I see that sheerly for the melodrama.
