Votes, Bits, & Bytes was Awesome!
My brain is still buzzing from Votes, Bits, & Bytes, the Berkman Center conference I attended Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Wendy Koslow, Erica George, and everyone at the Berkman Center put on a splendid event. sj did some wonderful transcriptions of the sessions. I met so many incredible people doing amazing things with Internet technology. I feel really excited and renewed. (But, boy, can no one party like news librarians!)
I was hoping to blog some of it tonight, but discovering the modem on my laptop is broken again–I took it in to repair the same problem in October!–just totally killed my mood. I’m too tired to do troubleshooting tonight to try to figure out if it’s something else. And I don’t want to work from this machine just yet (it’s really old and clunky, which is why I bought a laptop …) if I can get the modem going again. Oh, and did I mention I’m really tired?
I have so much online work to do tomorrow morning … I don’t know what I’m going to do. I feel so frustrated and angry about the broken modem. But you don’t want to read me gripe about how I’ve only had that machine for seven months and it has so many chronic problems.
And that major project’s due, too … I can’t do it on this machine because of incompatibility issues. I’m totally sunk.
I also won’t be on chat, the e-mail accounts affiliated with several weblogs, or several other things ’til I can work out my modem problems.
But, hey, it was an awesome conference!
