"The brothers said they were in the White House not just as Iraqi citizens but as representatives of the blogosphere."

I went to Jeff Jarvis’ blog to see what he posted about the Votes, Bits, & Bytes conference. I sat across from him at dinner Friday night and learned a lot. I still have so much to write about it and no energy to do much of anything tonight. This post about Iraqi bloggers Omar and Mohammed meeting U.S. President George W. Bush grabbed me.

I did not have the opportunity to talk to them like others at the conference did. What they’re doing with their weblog is inspirational. They’re truly filling a need for information, truth, from an area of the world where no one really knows what’s happening and people fear the media aren’t adequately representing what’s happening.

After that conference, I’m really reconsidering what I’m doing with my blogs and why. Blogging about news librarianship seems so shallow and meaningless in comparison. Do librarian bloggers break boundaries like they do?

  1. Jeff Jarvis Says:

We need your perspective as a news librarian in this new age! We’re all learning what the heck this thing is.

    Thanks, Jeff!

News librarianship is really easy. News librarianship is … Well, it’s about … Sometimes we … uh … News librarians … Ok, well, I guess I’ll keep writing about it a little while longer.
