Wikipedia Needs to Use More Feeds!

It’s so good to read this on someone else’s blog. I’ve been suggesting that Wikipedia use feeds for their current events, featured article, and some other feedless areas to some Wikipedians for a while. The other night, I think I might have made progress with one of them who might actually be able to make a difference. Part of the issue seems to be that they don’t see the demand/need for using feeds for those things. (Marketing! What’s new! Look at all the exciting things Wikipedia has!) Let’s get some buzz going to show them how interested we are.

You post content; they get revenue:

  • del.icio.us
  • Furl
  • NewsVine
  • Reddit
  • Technorati

It would also help Feedster refer more readers and editors to them if the edits to their pages seeped into Feedster.

Yes, it would! Excellent point, Scott!
