Wikipedia releases a DVD in Germany

If you are having problems getting the Wikipedia Frühjahr 2005 DVD in the United States, perhaps sj can help.

I am horribly curious about it.

Is it really Wikipedia, though? Does it contain the whole work, including things the publisher isn’t comfortable with and not including things which didn’t make the cut at Wikipedia? Or is it instead a different derivative work, exploiting the good name to increase sales?

Some similar issues here to those of video tapes of movies which are purchased by religious publishers then have their content replaced by an edited version of the work, adjusted to meet the desires of the publisher rather than the authors/trademark holders.

I don’t know whether this is really Wikipedia or some different item carrying the same name but with different content.

    I hope you’ll write that on sj’s blog, too. = )

I covered this topic with him a few weeks ago in IRC, I think.:)

How come I’m always the last one to know anything? ; )~

    There isn’t an IRC aggregator.:)

(And if there was, I’d send a DMCA takedown notice to its operator, for publication of unpublished copyrighted works without authorization from the copyright holders.:))
