Citizen Journalism at Next Week’s (4/14) Thursday Meeting
Lisa Williams wants to lead a session about citizen journalism at next Thursday’s blog group meeting (April 14). It should be pretty good. She’s invited some well known journalists to participate.
It’d be great to have some Wikinews folks in on the discussion.
Please feel free to join us. We’re broadcasting live once again (Yea, Shimon!) and we play on IRC, too: irc.freenode.net

I’ll certainly try and ‘be there’, although it will be quite late at night for me. But how does the IRC thing work? Will the people physically in the room be able to see what’s being said? If someone has access to a video projector, you could perhaps project the IRC window onto a screen. Or perhaps even use a text-to-speech reader!

Good questions, Dan100. We have a projector and use it regularly during the meetings. At least one person in the room (most of the time it’s me) is monitoring the IRC channel on another computer. We often project the IRC window when we aren’t browsing Web sites or looking at other things on the room’s computer.
Yeah, I know it’s a late night for you.
Would it be appropriate for us to hop onto the Wikinews channel during our meeting? Or would that be too much of a distraction for the Wikinews folks?

It’s, um, often quite quiet in #wikinews, so I don’t know how much of a response you’d get! But you’d certainly be welcome.

Well, maybe I’ll hop into #wikinews and make some noise on Thursday, depending on what’s happening there. =)

I’ve just heard that the IRC channel has been moved to #wikinews-en, leaving #wikinews for ‘international’ discussions.

Okay. I’ll hang out in #wikinews-en, then.
