sj’s going to make a lot of noise with his Wikipedia project.

I enjoyed a preview of a project sj created for the 2005 Boston Cyberarts Festival that he’ll present tonight at the Opening Night Party at the Hotel@MIT from 6 to 9 pm. The project actively converts Wikipedia edits into bird calls and water sounds. Someone listening to it with careful ears can pick out edits by specific people or certain kinds of edits, including those by known vandals. It runs very smoothly and reminds me of sitting near a riverbank listening to birds.

Tickets to tonight’s event cost $75.

I was trying to make some kind of pun with crow meaning boasting, but since sj mentioned a desire to use a crow for a vandal, making a pun about crowing just seemed a little derogatory.

Good luck, sj! May the attendees flock to your demo!

Addendum: sj writes about his project and gives links to download it and install it locally.
