SLA Plans
I’ll be in Toronto for the weekend of the Special Libraries Association Annual Conference. Unfortunately, that leaves me very little time to gather bloggers together. I’ll be around and so far unplanned Saturday morning and evening and Sunday afternoon. I’d like to organize something with the GTABloggers and, of course, I have to swing on the Secret Swing. (Should I bring my accordion? My wrists are probably too messed up to play right now.) Anyway, if you’re interested in playing along, drop me a line or comment below. Yes, spread the word, especially if you know others who might be interested in gathering with librarian/information professionals who blog.
Eli mentions some hostels near ALA and SLA and info the SLA Toronto Chapter compiled for the conference.
(PS–I know nothing about setting up wikis other than that quite a few techies I know prefer MediaWiki, the software that runs Wikimedia projects.)

Please count me in for the gathering … btw, are you an official blogger for SLA?

Awesome! It’ll be great to see you, Eli!
I responded to the inquiry about becoming an official blogger for SLA, but I never heard anything back about it. You?

I’ll be at SLA, but not arriving until sometime on Sunday. I would enjoy getting together, but already know that it is going to be hectic for me. Perhaps we should wear buttons or something so we can pick the blogger out in a crowd?
I wonder why you’re not an SLA blogger? You might want to contact them to check. The list of bloggers (of which I’m one) is quite long. The site is up, but being tweaked. I would expect some blogging to begin soon, once we have our sign-ons.

Maybe me. I’ll only be in TO from Mon 6th AM to Wed 8th PM though, and I may go to the science fiction author thing the IT Division is having in the evening of the 6th.

Well, one idea for a button is to try to track down some of those orange XML or RSS lapel pins a blogger I know saw at another conference. She doesn’t know if they are commercially available and I haven’t had any luck trying to track them down. Chris Pirillo was giving them out, I think.
I didn’t have a chance to resend my e-mail to the SLA guy asking for bloggers to see what’s up with my acceptance of the invitation to blog.

I just resent my acceptance of SLA’s offer to blog. Let’s see if I hear back from them this time.
Of course, I’ll be blogging here and maybe on NewsliBlog, so don’t fret too much about missing my coverage of the conference.

I just heard back from SLA (that was fast!). John said he just missed my response, added me to the blog, and listed me on the sidebar. Schweet! 30/6

Closing the loop: Check out this post on LISNews mentioning vonjobi pointing to the SLA Annual Conference weblog. The URL might have come from Amy’s response to vonjobi’s question.
