Books Arranged by Color!
Beautiful, isn’t it?
We talked about arranging books by color in cataloging class, but not as something serious. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had someone come up to me to ask about a book and describe it by color or some other physical attribute. Why not organize based on that principal? (more on arranging by color)
I also know people who have selected books from a library based on their color and/or binding.
The photos remind me of an art project I did for a painting class involving mixing paint in different shades and painting gradient squares.
Can I just say I hate the bookstore organized by publisher. I find the organizational scheme highly annoying and not very practical, especially for casual browsers or first-time shoppers. But I’ve whined about bookstore organization before, so I won’t do it again. (I can’t, however, find what I wrote about the bookstore organized by publisher. Why I didn’t link to it from the piece that refers to it, I don’t know. If you find it, let me know.)
(I almost /almost/ created an LJ account to comment on kalessin’s blog, but I decided to use the Jay McCarthy principal instead: blog on your own blog. (Or ‘bog on your own blog’ as the voice recognition software originally typed and a friend pointed out the typo. I think BS would appreciate it, too.))

At least until such a time as LJ supports that verdamt trackback crap (who, me? fearing and reviling the unknown?? Never.), commenting in LJ is a quite worthwhile thing.
How everyone else can deal with non-threaded comments and the lack of email notifications of new comments in reply to your comments is beyond me.
