Some New Comment Spam
The Harvard blog server administrators tweaked some things a few months ago that stopped the flood of comment spam. A few came through Tuesday. The spam links are part of the person’s registration data–information I cannot edit or delete. I deleted ten of the eleven messages and removed the members from the membership list.
One of the qualities I’d look for in a blog platform is better controls over the membership data. I’d like to be able to edit people’s records and let them have the option to do so. That way, when someone’s e-mail address changes, they don’t have to reregister–one of us can simply change the data. And when someone registers in a way that tries to disguise spam, I can eliminate it all from the blog.
