I’m on page 283.

I saw a copy Tuesday. Sure enough, there I am. It’s kinda scary at the same time I should feel honored by it. Who’s there and who isn’t there still surprises me.

There’s an error in my entry they refused to fix. Honestly, it was one I made when I typed it in using only one finger on each hand because of my wrist injuries. I remembered a few hours before the deadline I needed to submit the forms and typed them up and sent them off in haste. I usually do a good job proofreading, but I missed the switched numbers until I was looking over what I sent later. I corrected errors on the galley proof and sent it back, but several they didn’t fix.

After getting the letter with the final blurb on it and seeing the persistent errors, a salesman called to ask if I would buy a copy. I told him that the continued errors in my entry mean I wouldn’t buy my own copy. He seemed surprised that the entry wasn’t 100% correct, but accepted my reason with disappointment.

It’s a little alarming to see this happen with this source because it’s something I know many of my colleagues consider to be very reliable. The minor mistakes in my entry make me question everything else in the series.

At least they don’t have me listed as a school librarian anymore.

I wonder what will happen with it next year …
