Lack of Case Studies of Companies Using Weblogs

Hugh writes about the challenge with getting businesses to adopt blogging when there aren’t many case studies about the practice. I’ve been discussing this with other bloggers lately as some of us ponder blog software for intranets. Many of us know who the big public blog software companies are. Who’s providing software for intranets or other internal purposes? Are there certain companies who are better for this than others? Why don’t we know about them like we know about public software?

(I imagine it’s possible to install most platforms internally like someone would install them on a public server. I’m just wondering out loud about why we don’t hear more about blog software for intranets.)

Bill Ives from the Thursday blog group just wrote an entire book on this full of case studies :)

There are a lot of questions about locking down blogs … besides just putting them on the intranet. I only know of a couple of products that allow that.

Yes! Thanks for pointing that out Christina!

More info about the book is on Bill’s blog Portals and KM. I could have sworn I blogged something within the last 3 months about the status of the book, but I can’t find the post. It’s either out or will be soon.
