How Libraries and Bookstores can Learn from Each Other

I started reading this piece feeling great relief that I’m not the only person who gets hopelessly lost in bookstores and has a difficult time finding specific items. Marylaine Block expounds on why she finds looking for books in a book store problematic and how libraries and bookstores can learn from each other regarding the placement of material to entice customers.

Serendipity works very well for me in the library, like it does for her in a bookstore. And sometimes when I find things I really want to read in a bookstore, I make a mental note, then borrow it from a library.

Marylain has more on bookstores. Look for the heading in her index.
