Rare Book School Founder and Book Preservationist Garners MacArthur “Genius” Grant
Among the twenty-five MacArthur Fellows the MacArthur Foundation named on Tuesday (Sept. 20) is Terry Belanger, University Professor and Honorary Curator of Special Collections at the University of Virginia and founder of the Rare Book School, which I learned about through the playful antiquarian.
From the backgrounder linked above:
"Terry Belanger is a historian, collector, and protector of one of humankind’s greatest inventions: the book. … With thousands of former students currently at work in the field and offshoots of his programs in California, France, Australia, and New Zealand, Belanger is making the world a more secure place for the irreplaceable legacy of the book."
