There’s a cool talk at 8 pm in 100 Pound Hall on the Harvard Law School campus called Revenge of the Female Nerds also on Thursday. Wired Magazine’s Annalee Newitz is going to talk about geeky women. There’ll be wine and dessert, too.
Addendum: I’m at Annalee’s talk now. She opened by talking about how many times at tech conferences people have just assumed she’s there because she’s someone’s girlfriend. I imagine the same thing happens to lots of male librarians at librarian conferences.
Annalee’s talk basically explored societal issues surrounding why it’s odd for women to be geeks and in geeky careers. Anyone want to change the world?
