Contradancing in a Library!

I finally got to contradance in a library!

No, really. There’s a library that has a hall with a stage and a floor suitable for dancing. Very nice! I was tempted to hang out in the children’s section instead of dancing, though, because a poster of one of my favorite children’s book mice hangs on the wall.

A friend remarked that the dance floor is really quiet. In contradancing, there’s a lot of stomping. To some people, having a floor that makes it easy to stomp loudly is important. Had I been witty, I would have remarked, “Well, it’s a library. Of course the floor is going to be quiet!”

Hosting such dances is a great way to market the library. I saw many people admiring the displays and some of the books. I wonder how they guard against theft (or if it’s even a problem for some of these events).
