Old Fashioned Blogging
A really cool thing happened to me the other night. I wanted to blog about it, but the server hosting the blog where it would go has been down for a few days and won’t come back for a while. I messaged a friend the story, then sat on my hands.
At a party, I was talking to a fellow blogger about the site being down and mentioned the cool story I wanted to blog. A few other friends drifted over, then I started telling my story. A friend who knew about the incident chimed in at various points. I joked that what we were doing was old fashioned blogging: sharing a story with friends orally. And instead of clicking over to my friend’s blog to get her perspective, they could just listen to us both recount the tale.
I mean, really, I talk to some of these people all the time. It’s not like I don’t. And it’s not like I wouldn’t tell someone something I blog. It was just funny because I had it in my head that the incident would be perfect to blog. I told it as a story instead.
