Getting Responses to Comments via E-mail
A few of you have asked me about getting e-mailed responses to comments. In Manila (this blog platform), you have to jump through a few hoops to do it.
- If you aren’t already a member of the site, join. Membership has its privileges.
- Log in.
- Comment.
- Go to the discussion group.
- Find the comment for which you want notification of responses and click on it.
- If you’re logged in, you should see the option to edit your comment, post a response, and, at the bottom of the page, a box you can check to receive notification of responses to the comment. Check the box and click Submit.
- Check your e-mail every minute to see if someone has responded. (Uh, I was just kidding about checking your e-mail every minute …)
This process would be much easier if there was a box on the comment screen for the option of notification.
I tried this with a recent comment on another blog, but it didn’t work for me. Maybe your luck will be different.
