Invasion of TrackBack Spam and Funky Characters
I noticed the scratchpad is collecting TrackBack spam right now like belly buttons collect lint. There’s no way I can comb through the thousands of posts here to get rid of the spam. Manila doesn’t ping me when I get new TrackBacks and it doesn’t provide a way to view new TrackBacks like it does with comments. There’s also no way to view all of the posts, say, from a month or week or anything, so I can’t view a large batch at a time. I’ll do what I can to get rid of the spam I find. If you find a post that’s just gobbed with spam, feel free to send me the link so I can clean it off.
Also, with some of the server tweaking that’s been happening behind the scenes, something changed that effects how certain characters render. I’ve noticed missing character marks where there should be apostrophes, m dashes, and such. Some of the standard HTML character codes don’t seem to be working anymore. I’m not sure if this is something the weblogmaster can address or what is going on.
Addenda: I figured I’d work through April’s posts, at least, to pull off TrackBack spam. I found one piece on pop-up ads in a newspaper with almost 60 spam on it. Usually, there’s only a few pieces of spam. The most I had seen previously was about 12. Almost 60! I think I might leave that just for fun.
OK. After typing that, I continued going back. I’m finding blog posts with almost 70 TrackBack spam on them. Nevermind.
