Spring Issue of News Library News

The spring issue of News Library News, the official newsletter of the Special Libraries Association News Division, is available. Highlights include some articles about Baltimore, the location of the 2006 SLA Annual Conference, a profile of The Baltimore Sun, a few articles about XML feeds, a recap of Gary Price’s visit to Boston, and the regular features.

I freely admit the article about XML feeds I turned in was way too long. I typed about half of it one morning, then couldn’t wedge time in my schedule to write the other half for a few weeks. When I finally did, I just typed everything I thought I should say. It was about a thousand words too long. I cut and cut, but I’m just not that great at condensing and chopping my own stuff. I haven’t read what was published to see what might have changed (not that that matters too much anyway). It’s difficult for me to write a short article because I have way too much to say about it. Like the last time, I’ll probably read it again and realize I left out a lot of really important stuff.

In the new column Tech Tips, Derek Willis explores how to integrate XML feeds into the newsroom.

The newsletter is available as a .pdf for downloading. Enjoy!
