Notes from Gwen Ifill’s Address

Gwen Ifill, a well-known American broadcast journalist who’s on the two highly regarded PBS (public television) shows NewsHour and Washington Week, gave the opening address at the Special Libraries Association 2006 Annual Conference. I put my notes online.

Addendum 7/1: I’m listening to Gwen Ifill on Wait Wait–Don’t Tell Me! One of the questions they asked her is about how she said recently she wanted to be a librarian. She said something like, “Oh, I think I was talking to a group of librarians at the time. One of my dream jobs was to be a back up singer.” Did Gwen lie to us? Or is she just trying to be more ‘hip’ on the radio? Her response made me a little sad.

My penpal would be happy to know they’re asking her about Superman.
