Where in the world is the news?
Once again, I’m listening to a presentation about Global Voices Online, a site aggregating international blogs in order to increase the awareness of international news. Ethan Zuckerman has a map showing the media’s interest in areas of the world. It shows where most of the focus is and what regions are neglected. Global Voices Online tries to fill the gap.
I attended a talk Rebecca MacKinnon gave months ago about Global Voices Online where she announced they have a grant from the news agency Reuters. Reuters is partnering with them to do some cool things with international news. I think Reuters has taken a really good step.
