Annihilating Trackback Spam, or, Another Reason Why I Love Geeks

Ok, well, you’ve read my thoughts on trackback spam before. I was discussing the problem I’ve been having deleting the huge mass of spam that’s been accumulating on some of the posts to a programmer friend of mine. Within a few moments, he came up with an easy way to mass select and delete much of the spam. The solution is a lot less complicated than I thought it would be. It’s almost silly. It’s like one of these situations where maybe those of us who have been pondering it ended up making it much more difficult than it needed to be.

Since it does take advantage of a, uh, quirk in the programming, I’d rather not post the solution here. If you’re blogging on Manila and you want to know what I’m doing, drop me a line.

I probably zapped more than a thousand trackback spam this afternoon. *flexes fingers*

Thanks for your help on this problem!
