Internet Librarian 2006

I’ve heard a lot of really great things about past Internet Librarian conferences. Three to five days of geeking with librarians. Sounds like my kinda crowd, doesn’t it? I got a preview of some of the wiki talks at Wikimania. Terrific stuff. If you’re waffling about going, let me tell you now that I’ve heard more positive things about this conference this year than many other librarian tech conferences. It’s October 23-25 in Monterey, California.

I’m facing a lot of peer pressure to go; and, I’d really like to, if I can make it work. I’m not exactly sure I can swing the finances to go, though, so I figured I’d throw some ideas out here to see what might happen. I know a few of you folks in California and along the west coast have expressed an interest in having me come out in the past to make a presentation or teach a course. As long as I’m in the neighborhood … Seriously, as ridiculous as it might sound for me to suggest some city hopping while I’m out west, I’ll be closer to some of you while I’m out there than I am at any other point during the year. Interested? Ping me. (I might not be able to respond before September 18.)
