E-mail Turned off on this Blog Server
Because of some problems with spammers, the server administrator needed to turn off the e-mail features of this Manila server. Those of you who have been receiving blog posts via e-mail, like me, will no longer receive them. Also, it means you can no longer e-mail anyone through a Manila blog, so trying to reach me through either the scratchpad or the Thursday meetings blog profiles won’t work. The contact pages, however, have not been changed to say that e-mail no longer works and it’s possible to go through the entire process of e-mailing someone through a blog without knowing it won’t work. I’m not sure if adding a message is something I can do or if only the weblogmaster can edit the templates.
I’m trying to decide what to do to let people know how to contact me. I haven’t decided which e-mail address to give out for the blogs.
Also, I need to figure out what to do about backing up this blog, since I’ve been using the e-mailed blog posts as an archive.
Addendum 10/13: This change also means comments won’t get e-mailed, so it’s going to be a bit trickier to keep up. With about 3 1/2 years of content and 4,000+ items on this blog, having e-mailed comments saves us from digging through lots of content. I’ll try to remember to check the discuss page to look for new comments.
